When the days get a little shorter, or you need a fictional escape, it’s time to binge watch. We hope our Carrington at Barker Cypress community members in Cypress, Texas, enjoy these binge-worthy series.
The Good Place
A show that absurdly asks huge afterlife questions can only be deliciously absurd. The quirky cast of characters includes the likes of Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, D'Arcy Carden, Manny Jacinto and Ted Danson of “Cheers” acclaim. It’s eyebrow-wrinkling clever, and the NBC series has three seasons under its belt.
Stranger Things
This Netflix original series has wowed young and old alike. Set in the retro 1980s, the sci-fi mystery thriller includes life lessons about friendship, love, and loyalty as an unsettling government plot unfolds. The show has been touted as spooky and gripping, and the streaming giant has two seasons in the queue with a third set to upload in 2019.
The original Star Trek and Next Generation
It may come as something of a surprise, but the original Star Trek with William Shatner in the lead role of Capt. James T. Kirk was rather short-lived on TV. It remains an excellent old-school sci-fi drama and gave way to a similarly interesting Next Generation with Patrick Stewart as Capt. Jean Luc Picard. The long binge may be worthwhile that starts with the original and streams into the Next Generation. The original is also the basis for the latest Star Trek motion pictures. History in the making!
Impractical Jokers
When four best friends compete to see who can win a series of public embarrassment tasks, the result is a gut-busting comedy series that is not to be missed. James Murray, Joseph Gatto, Sal Vulcano, Brian Quinn, Drew Patterson star in this series that has been picked up by Netflix. The basic premise is that they dare each other to push the limits of inappropriate behavior in public spaces.
Posing as store clerks, massage therapists, and other plain-sight disguises, the contestant finds out in a split second what they will be called upon to do next. Fail to complete the task and the penalty could be far more humiliating.
