Dinner parties don't have to be filled with fancy decorations or gourmet food to be fun. Your Cypress, TX apartment doesn't even have to be spick and span to invite people over! What you do need is a lively mix of conversation and laughter. To avoid the usual dinner party pitfall of having people break into sectioned-off conversations, games can be a great way to bring everyone together. If you're looking for a more casual environment in which to pass around a serving dish or three, use these ideas to help people loosen up.
Words and Lyrics
This game involves having everyone write down a few lyrics to a song. It can be their favorite song, a song they hate, or just one that has a special meaning attached to it. These lyrics should be written anonymously and then placed in a pile. Have people do it before they start to eat and then read them off just as everyone is finishing up their last bites. Have everyone guess who wrote which lyrics. (The person who wrote the lyric can play along too by guessing someone else at the table). You can even have a prize for the person who gets the most right.
20 Questions
This game is fun to play because it's free and can be done even when everyone is in the midst of eating. The traditional way to play the game is to have someone think of a person, place or thing and then have people narrow it down by asking yes or no questions. But you can mix it up if you want to. Try putting a small sticky note on someone's forehead with the name of a famous person and then have the person guess what's written on the card based on clues. Or you can even write down the name of someone at the party and then give obscure clues leading into easier ones until the person gets it right.
The art of entertaining certainly isn't dead, but it should evolve as time goes on. If you're looking for a larger apartment where you can invite people over, call Carrington at Barker Cypress. We have the apartments you need to really entertain!
